About the Role

The Ebenezer Child Development Center (ECDC), a Four-Star Rated early childcare provider
(rated by the Texas Rising Star Program) in Austin, Texas, is in search of an assistant director
whose practice, experience, and vision are aligned with the mission of the Ebenezer Child
Development Center:

1. To provide quality academic-based and affordable childcare for early childhood,
pre-school children,
2. To provide care in a climate that stimulates and supports the total development of
the complete child,
3. To provide for the systematic- structured professional growth of the teaching
staff, and
4. To provide sequential parental training in a climate that promotes excellence in
parenting skills.

Basic Functions:
Assist the Executive Director in…
 the day-to-day operations of ECDC
 compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines
 community relations
 payroll management
 instructional leadership to staff (e.g., orientation of new teachers, leading teachers
instructional planning and delivery
 coordinating and reporting to agencies teachers’ professional development and training
 supervising the food program, including food ordering and storage
 other activities as assigned by Executive Director.

Qualifications:
 A bachelor’s degree in early childhood education with three years of experience in early
childhood education; or an associate degree in early childhood education and 5 or more
years of successful experience as a director or assistant director.
 Must meet requirements for State’s Directors’ Certificate.
 Experience in working in a diverse childcare environment.
 Must pass state background check.
 Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Duties and Responsibilities
Assisting Executive Director in
 planning, organizing, and administering the Center’s childcare programs.
 Preparing for announced and unannounced visits for local and state inspections, and other
requirements.
 working with licensing personnel, staff, and community agencies for ongoing improvements
within the Center.
 participating in professional meetings and conferences.
 working with payroll management company for completing payroll of staff.
 Working with local, state, and federal agencies in administering the food program.
 working with staff on maintaining current professional training according to Licensing and
other affiliated agencies.
 working with local school district, as appropriate, for providing services to Title I children
and families.
 keeping accurate records for reporting child attendance to appropriate agencies.
 working with teachers for arranging field trips and on-campus extra-curricular experiences
for children.
 working with WorkSource and other agencies on enrolling, billing, meeting requirements for
the subsidized tuition program.
 supervising parent involvement and parent education program
 organizing the student enrollment and withdrawing processes.
 keeping accurate records children currently enrolled.

Salary and Benefits:
This is Full Time, 12-month position. Salary and other benefits are Negotiable – based upon
education and leadership experience in early childhood education. The person chosen for this
position will be under the supervision of the Executive Director and the Ebenezer Board of
Directors and will also be in training for a future role as director of the Center.
